To help us celebrate the museum's new open season and the re-generation of Bewdley town and riverside, our favourite strolling Elizabethan musicians will entertain you throughout the day with their mix of music and song.

Into the Closet - Costume Rediscovered
Costume and Textile Exhibition - the Wyre Forest Gallery
Saturday 25th March - Sunday 4th June
 
This exhibition shows costume from the museum's collections that has never been on display before. From Sunday best and evening dresses to work wear and accessories, see costume from the olden days. Also on show are many old photographs of costume in the Wyre Forest area with their modern day equivalents and a chance to compare natural and synthetic fabrics.

Dashing Away With the Smoothing Iron
Special exhibition - the Quayle Gallery
Saturday 25th March - Monday 12th June
 
This exhibition looks at the arduous task of laundry in days gone by. Handle old and new irons and discover what hard work washing was before running hot water and washing machines... old mangles, washing machines and washboards will be on display.

Queen's 80th Birthday
Feature Showcase

Join us to celebrate the Queen's 80th birthday. On display are photos of the Queen's visits to the Wyre Forest area plus mementoes and memories of the Coronation and Silver and Gold Jubilees.

A traditional workshop for the festival of Easter, where you will have the chance to experiment with a variety of techniques to produce your own personal designs on eggs.

A textiles workshop run by our resident craftsperson, Roslyn Zalin. Try your hand at this fascinating traditional design technique using wax and dyes.
 
Crafts Alive!
Monday 17th April
10.30am - 4.00pm
 
A return visit by Worcestershire's most talented craftspeople. Watch and admire the skills of the Worcestershire Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, Lacemakers and displays of corn dolly making. The work of our resident craftspeople will also be on show.

Museums and Galleries Month

Welcome Weekend
 
The first weekend of Museums and Galleries Month is Welcome Weekend. At Bewdley Museum, the Friends of Bewdley Museum will be on hand to guide visitors round the site and answer questions. Our tea shop will also be open over the weekend.
 
Making Connections
 
In connection with Museum and Galleries Month 2006's theme "Making Connections", Bewdley Museum will present the opportunity to listen to oral history recordings of local residents.

Led by resident craftsperson Roslyn Zalin. This age old ethnic technique using wax and dyes will be used on the natural fabric of silk to create a unique and personal scarf.

Fine Art Exhibition - the Wyre Forest Gallery

Using a selection of oil paintings from the museum service's extensive fine art collection, this exhibition presents an opportunity to learn more about this medium.
 
 

Hats Off! - Feature Showcase

Showing more of the museum's costume collection, see a variety of different hats, from pretty to plain and frivolous to practical.

Our Autumn exhibition shows the equipment used in harvesting, in conjunction with our permanent agricultural display. Find out about cider maker and harvesting in the fields and forest with objects and photographs on display.

On this special day, Bewdley Guild Hall and the Mayors Parlour will be joining hundreds of other historic buildings across the country to show both visitors and local people the unique civic history of the area. Members of Bewdley Town Council and Bewdley Civic Society will be on hand to answer all your questions.

 

Plus an opportunity to explore the Museums own historic buildings!
